About Century Investment

                             

Century Investment Company has roots in Greater Springfield, going back more than 65 years. In the 1940s, when Abe, Jack and Gilbert Cohen owned car dealerships in West Springfield and Worcester (MA), the three brothers - born and raised in Springfield's North End - made their first real estate investments.

By the early 1950s, the Cohens owned several tracts of undeveloped land in Agawam and West Springfield, in addition to having purchased a number of landmark buildings in Downtown Springfield.

At the same time, they built the region's first strip shopping center at the site of a former racetrack on Memorial Avenue, West Springfield. Today, Century Center - having undergone numerous expansions - is a modern 285,000 square foot (s.f.) shopping complex tenanted by national and regional retailers.

Other key Century Investment projects over the years have involved the renovation of former factory, school and warehouse buildings to serve new uses — including the Park Street Lofts of Springfield, Old School Commons of Northampton, and the 95 Ashley Avenue office building in West Springfield.

Today, Century Investment owns and manages shopping centers and offices buildings in Springfield, West Springfield, Palmer and Enfield, CT. Under the leadership of Andrew M. Cohen, son of Gilbert Cohen, and now a third generation, Elizabeth Cohen Rappaport, daughter of Andrew, the company continues its real estate development, management and consulting activities in the Springfield area. Both Andy and Liz look forward to continuing the third generation family business for years to come.
